China / US Tit for Tat
China's consulate in Houston, Texas has some 60 workers. Being forced to close it on short notice of only 72 hours, China retaliated by ordering the US to close its consulate in Chengdu.

In Hong Kong, the US consulate has thousands of workers. If you insist that a consulate is usually also a center of espionage, then you must say that the US consulate in Hong Kong is the super American spy center in the world. And it is. Since the National Security Law came into effect, I heard the number of staff members has been reduced.

There are 85,000 Americans living and working in Hong Kong. Besides the US consulate workers, CIA agents in HK would take the cover roles of being a teacher, journalist, news reporter, merchant, NGO worker, etc. etc. But you know what their real work is. Many Hongkongers would like to see the US consulate in HK closed.

Land of the Free ?
I am not an American, but I feel sad that USA
is going down. Selfish capitalism (or should I say corporatism and
plutocracy?), greed for money, fame and power, endless wars and
military involvements everywhere, and its ever-increasing heavy debts - all these led to its decline.
..........................................................................................................
American capitalism works wonderfully for the 1% but fails terribly for the 99%.The recent shut down of the U.S.Government is so crazy and ridiculous.
..........................................................................................................
Uncle Sam spies on everyone: friends and enemies, American citizens and citizens of the whole world, foreign leaders, embassies, countries, organizations, companies, individuals, EU, even UN, I mean everyone.
..........................................................................................................
Now think about the global image of Uncle Sam in the world. Sad to say that USA no longer brings respect and admiration from the world, not even from its own citizens. Looks like America is no longer Land of the Free. Please take care !!!

Peeping Sam
In the news, Uncle Sam spies on not only his own American citizens, but also the citizens and countries of the whole world. The U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) spies on everyone: its own citizens, foreigners, friends and enemies, the European Union (EU), even the United Nations (UN) and more than 80 embassies and consulates. You are not a terrorist, fine, but Uncle Sam can still be watching you anyway. Does Uncle Sam care about people's privacy and international law at all? I remember an old joke question,"What do you call a Chinese spy?" The answer is "Peking Tom". It gives way to my question, which is not quite a joke, "What do you call an American spy?" The answer is "Peeping Sam".

Edward Snowden and Uncle Sam
Dear Uncle Sam: to spy on foreign governments and countries is one thing, but to spy on your own citizens and the citizens of the whole world is just way too much. You must be very mad at Edward Snowden, but he is a hero to many Americans and non-Americans in the world.
