Love without marriage is better than marriage without love. This is only my opinion. You don't have to agree with me.  

For men, here is what the ancient Athenian philosopher Socrates said: by all means marry. If you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Tomorrow, there will be many marriages but also many divorces. Marriage is a 50 / 50 win-or-lose gamble.

Kim Davis

A friend posted a picture of Kim Davis in Facebook with these words:

"God's law is above the laws of a nation" - Senator Mike Huckabee.

Let's have a look at one of God's laws. "Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge must be put to death" - Deuteronomy 17:12  

My thoughts and comments:

I am an ex-Catholic and ex-Christian. I've left the organized Christian religion, but I keep some of the good teachings of Christ, like Love and Forgiveness. I no longer consider the Bible holy. It is the Bible, but not Holy Bible.

In the Bible, you can find many good things and also lots of craps. You can quote one verse to reject another verse. I've found it almost futile to argue with the fundamental conservative Christians, I mean by using their same Bible which they claim to be the words of God. They would insist on the authority of certain verse that they use, but reject your verse which came from their same Bible. Quoting the Bible is just a game of cherry picking, not necessarily an authority to approve or disapprove anything.

In this story, Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk who refused to issue marriage license to gay couples had been put to jail for contempt of court. She was then released and became a 15 minutes hero of the conservative Christians.

My opinion is that since Kim Davis cannot perform her job of issuing marriage license to gay couples, for doing so is against her conscience and religious belief, then she should resign and find another job. To keep the job, get paid, while not being ready, willing and able to do the work and serve the people is rather hypocritical with no integrity.

Love and Marriage

Without marriage, love is still beautiful ... but without love, is marriage still beautiful ? I don't think so.

Why Marry ?

Husband and Wife

A friend of mine complains about her husband. She says being a wife makes her feel like she is the man's half-a-mother and half-a-whore. It makes me laugh. Maybe her husband feels like he is her half-a-daddy and half-an-obedient-son. Sometimes I wonder: is Marriage about Love or what ?

Marriage

Marriage,the traditional or old-fashioned kind,is becoming obsolete or outdated. It is a tricky game, the same old game. One spouse wants to own and control the other, but refuses to be owned and controlled. One spouse imposes restrictions on the freedom of the other, while refuses to give up his or her own freedom.

It is fundamentally wrong to believe that you can own another human being, or be owned. The primitive master-and-slave relationship should no longer be allowed in a modern free society.

Marriage should be changed from "ownership" or "possession" into something like a "leasehold tenure". It should expire annually, on the anniversary of the wedding date or marriage registration date. The couple must agree to renew it for another year, otherwise it automatically expires.

Marriage without Love doesn't work. Love without marriage does. The answer is not about being married or single. The answer is LOVE !
