In the news (TYT), Japan is about to begin hunting whales again.

Do you honestly believe that Japan's practice of killing large numbers of whales each year is truly for scientific purpose, and not for food and business profit?

That said, the worst kind of killing is not humans killing animals, but humans going to war to kill other humans.

Ebola Vaccine

An Ebola vaccine created by medical scientists of the Public Health Agency of Canada appears to be 100% effective in protection. Dr. Margaret Chan, Director-General of the World Health Organization said the vaccine could be a game changer.

I love this kind of good news. Congratulations to Canada!

How Long Can We Live ?

How long can we live ? Can we extend human life to 150 years? 1000 years? or even forever? A cynic would say that you are crazy to believe that you can really live that long, let alone forever. Well, I am one of these 'crazy' people.

However, I believe longevity and eventually immortality would be achieved through advanced science and bio-technology, not by waving a magic wand. It would be a 'scientific miracle', not a 'religious miracle'. 

Now, believe it or not, it was recorded that there was a man Li Ching-Yuen in China, who was born in 1677 and died in 1933. He lived 256 years. In the Old Testament, it was recorded that there were people who lived more than 900 years ( for example, Adam at 930 years, and Methuselah at 969 years ). 

Do you believe in Science or Religion, or both ? Do you believe that we can stay young and healthy for a very long time, and that it is no longer a pipe dream?

Smart Up and Dumb Down

I believe that Religion can dumb you down, and Science can smart you up. My belief is based on many years of diligent studies, observations, and personal experiences.

I don't mean to tell you to give up Religion altogether. I am saying that Religion is like wine. Abstinence can do you no harm. Moderation may do some good to your health. Over consumption can lead to death, yours and others.

Religion and Spirituality are not the same thing. Religion separates and imprisons people. Spirituality unites and liberates people. Spirituality is true religion, and Religion is false spirituality. Religious people would become violent and go to war to kill others. Spiritual people are non-violent and peace-loving. I hope I am not confusing you.

All said, it is only my view of looking at science, religion and spirituality. You may disagree with me and have a different view. It's O.K. I believe in freedom of choice. I am only sharing my thoughts and comments with you. I just don't care whether you are a theist, atheist, or agnostic, as long as you are a peaceful and reasonable person. Love and Peace to all !!!

Fiction and Reality

Yesterday's fiction is today's reality. Today's fiction is tomorrow's reality. No, it is not magic. No, it is not a miracle. Yes, it is science!

Midway Hotel

Some years ago, I was driving north to Dawson from Whitehorse for the first time. Dawson City was the old capital of Yukon. It was the center of the Klondike Gold Rush back in 1898. While I was driving, I suddenly had a vision in my mind, or rather above my head. I saw a highrise hotel named Midway Hotel.

I don't know how to explain what a vision is. There is no need for an explanation, if you had such an experience yourself. Look at it this way: a vision is like a dream which lasts for only a few seconds. Other similar experiences are described by people as having an idea, an inspiration, a waking dream, an awakening, premonition or clairvoyance.Of course, some people would think that you are nuts if you tell them that you had a vision. Others would think that you are a prophet or an alien.Whatever!

However you think, I am not alone.Many people have such extrasensory perception experiences. Did you ever have the experience that a good friend or loved one came to mind; then the phone rang and it was the same person that you saw in your head just a few seconds ago? Or did you have the experience that you heard a song in your head; then you walked into a store or restaurant, and that same song was being played, almost like specially for you? 

After seeing the Midway Hotel in my vision in split seconds, I knew I would see it on my way to Dawson. Lord and Behold, it happened so fast.Within the next ten minutes or so, I saw Midway Lodge coming into sight.It was not a highrise hotel, but the name of Midway was the same as what I saw in my vision, and it was a place for accommodation. The Midway Hotel, a modern highrise in my vision, had become the modest Midway Lodge in physical reality.

There are still so many things that we don't fully understand. Neither Religion nor Science is able to explain everything clearly to everyone's satisfaction. After many years of diligent studies and observations, I have become much more confident in Science than in Religion. I'm waiting for a new Einstein to explain to me, scientifically, whether extrasensory perception is real, and how does it work. Singularity is getting closer and closer, but it has not yet arrived. I'm patiently waiting.          

Human Sexuality

HUMAN SEXUALITY: there are men who were born female. There are also women who were born male. There is still much ignorance, misinformation, lack of understanding and prejudice in this world regarding human sexuality, largely due to religious, cultural and non-scientific beliefs and traditions. We all started out as female in the womb before becoming male or female weeks later. This is what I believe: there is a whole spectrum of sexual orientation for both men and women, from very macho to very feminine. Most of us are in the middle or so-called normal range, between 2 extremes. There is no 100% straight or gay sexual orientation. You may be 99% straight, but there is still 1% gay-ness in you. Or you may be 99% gay, but there is still 1% straight-ness in you. Whether you are straight, gay, bi-sexual or transgender, you are a NORMAL human being. People invented sin, abnormality, immorality and all the B.S. about human sexuality, which is something natural and NORMAL.

God Particle

Scientists have found yet another subatomic particle. Call it the Higgs Boson, God Particle, Goddamn Particle, or whatever, but it cannot be the smallest subatomic particle ever discovered. There will be more subatomic particles yet to be discovered. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why? Because there is no such thing as the smallest or smallest particle. Something cannot be made of nothing.Parts of something constitute that something. Each part is made of smaller parts, and each smaller part is made of yet smaller parts.It is like many small bubbles within a bubble,and each small bubble within that bubble is made of yet many smaller bubbles,and it goes on and on to the infinitely small. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I believe the ultimate reality is one of Infinity, both in time and space. There are the infinitely small as well as the infinitely large. Whether this is the absolute truth or complete truth, nobody can prove it clearly with physical evidence once and for all, because there are forever the distant unknowns and the infinite unknowables. Einstein says 2 things are certain: infinity and human stupidity, but he has doubt about the former. What is your belief or understanding ?

Speed of Light

Science fiction of yesterday becomes scientific fact of today. Impossibility of today becomes reality of tomorrow. Is it true that nothing can travel faster than light ? Untrue ! This belief held by the majority of people is being proved wrong. Yes, even Einstein could be wrong, or should we respectfully say that he didn't know ? Neutrino, a subatomic particle, is showing evidence that it can travel faster than the speed of light. If you ask me, I'll tell you that this is indeed how the advanced extraterrestrials are able to travel so fast, across very long distance in space, to visit other planets including Earth.

Religion and Science

While old religions keep dragging people backward, science continues to move things forward. Progress is a forward movement. Science trumps Religion every time !

Future

The argument about the future is rather futile, especially on a personal level. The future of every living human being is the same, which is DEATH. The big question is not about this life, but what will happen or not happen after our physical death. There are certainly many theories or propositions available for you to choose from. These theories and propositions came from many different sources, including philosophy, metaphysics, religion and science. It is up to yourself to pick the one that makes the most sense to you. You can even create your own theory and proposition. Meanwhile, before the future arrives, please enjoy your life, the here and now, and be very happy !!!

Some religious, conservative and primitive people have no love, no spirituality and no scientific understanding, yet they think they are superior and normal. They discriminate against the gay people, bi-sexual people and trans-gender people, but I have found that some of the greatest artists and musicians are actually these people.

What is the true meaning of Lady Gaga's song 'Born This Way'? Do you know anything about the rumor that Lady Gaga is partly a man ? I am just curious. Whatever Lady Gaga is, she is marvelous !!!

Baby, Doc and God

There are always people who are against the progress of science, typically very religious people. Fortunately, most are not extremists and have not lost all their senses, so when they are sick,they still choose to see a doctor, instead of praying to god for cure.

Infertile people who want a child should adopt one, or see a doctor and fertility expert, to create a baby through science, not praying or expecting a miracle to happen.

Infinite Time and Space

By all means look for the next door, but stop searching for the first or last door, and you will gain wisdom and peace.

There is no beginning and no end. Time and Space are the same piece of gum, however you chew it, which is infinite !

As Carl Sagan suggested, instead of believing in god or gods, why not save a step and accept that this universe has always existed.

God believers are like children watching a magic show, believing that something came from nothing and appeared from nowhere, which could not be the real truth. Something would not have come from nothing. Even the magician was also something, who could not have come from nothing.
