Is China richer than America ?

China is now home to more wealthy people than the U.S. According to Credit Suisse’s global wealth report of 2019, out of the hundreds of millions of people that make up the wealthiest 10% of people on the planet in 2018, 100 million lived in China and 99 million lived in the United States. _________________________________________________ The U.S. is not a poor country, but the reality is that a few rich people own a very large amount of the country’s income and wealth, while the common people own a very small amount of it. In other words, the wealth gap is huge. The rich are getting richer and richer, but the poor are getting poorer and poorer. While the middle class in China is growing, the middle class in the U.S. is declining. _________________________________________________ This article is not an argument on whether Capitalism is better than Socialism, or vice versa. It is to point out the fact that China has been very successful in lifting hundreds of millions of Chinese people out of poverty. _________________________________________________ China describes itself as a socialist country with Chinese characteristics. Whatever you think of it, China is no longer weak and poor. While Donald Trump wants to make America great again, Xi Jinping is making China great again. Instead of fighting against each other, I wish the U.S. and China would work things out in their trade negotiations. War is a problem, not a solution. For stability and world peace, a good U.S. / China relation is very necessary. _________________________________________________ Fast Edi Thoughts and Comments.

Burt Reynolds and What is Success ?

In the news, also posted by a friend in Facebook, Burt Reynolds, the famous movie star of the 70s, is apparently broke and is selling off his stuff.

I feel sad to hear about this. He was a big star. However, he is not alone. Many people succeeded in beating poverty, but failed to manage wealth. As comedian Bill Hicks said, "It's just a ride."

This is what I think: a successful person is not necessarily rich and famous. A successful person is one who is able to live happily under any conditions in life, whether rich or poor, famous or unknown, married or single, powerful or common, and is able to do what he or she loves to do. Enjoy your ride !!!

Is USA a Democracy ?

USA is no longer a democracy, is it ? Extreme Capitalism, with the extremely selfish and individualistic concept of winner takes all, while having no sympathy for the less capable, less fortunate and losers (deserved or not), has turned America into an Oligarchy and Plutocracy. It has become a country of the rich, by the rich, for the rich. Indeed if you have the choice, please consider moving to Canada. You probably won't regret. Take care !

War and Hunger

Sometimes I feel some uninvited moral pain, when I look at this troubled world. It has no true justice and fairness. Humans are technologically quite advanced but spiritually still so primitive. Approximately 950 million people or 14% of the world population suffer from hunger or undernourishment. Many simply do not have money to buy food. How can you live on an income of a dollar or two a day ? Yet, we have plenty of money to spend, to create bullets and bombs, and killing machines, to go to war and keep killing one another. Why don't we spend money on feeding the hungry and helping the poor instead ? Burn all the national flags. Everyone, let's create only one flag: EARTH.
