Doctor Dao and the United Airlines

A friend in Facebook shared an article written by Andrew Lam, an author and editor of the New American Media in San Francisco. It was published by the Huffington Post on April 11, 2017 regarding David Dao, the Asian American doctor who was forcefully dragged from a United Airlines flight departing Chicago for Louisville, Kentucky. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are a few points that I agree with Andrew Lam in what he said in this article: had Dao been a blonde white woman, such assault and battery would not have happened. It was not a case of overbooking; every passenger had a seat. Rather Dao was forced to give up his paid seat to make room for United employees. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My thoughts and comments: Forcing a customer to give up his paid seat for the airline's own staff members was highly unfair even if it was not illegal. In any case, violence is wrong. Such incident reflects a few perceived American problems beyond the United Airlines in a broader sense: racism against non-white minorities, police brutality, an aggressive culture or violent value that 'might is right' and force is the answer to solving problems. Uncle Sam likes to fight and kill. What can we do? So bad So sad !!!

Smart Up and Dumb Down

I believe that Religion can dumb you down, and Science can smart you up. My belief is based on many years of diligent studies, observations, and personal experiences.

I don't mean to tell you to give up Religion altogether. I am saying that Religion is like wine. Abstinence can do you no harm. Moderation may do some good to your health. Over consumption can lead to death, yours and others.

Religion and Spirituality are not the same thing. Religion separates and imprisons people. Spirituality unites and liberates people. Spirituality is true religion, and Religion is false spirituality. Religious people would become violent and go to war to kill others. Spiritual people are non-violent and peace-loving. I hope I am not confusing you.

All said, it is only my view of looking at science, religion and spirituality. You may disagree with me and have a different view. It's O.K. I believe in freedom of choice. I am only sharing my thoughts and comments with you. I just don't care whether you are a theist, atheist, or agnostic, as long as you are a peaceful and reasonable person. Love and Peace to all !!!

October The First

October 1 (Wed), 2014: today is Jimmy Carter's birthday. He is 90 years old. Happy Birthday, Mr. President !!!

Today is also the national day of China. The celebration is dampened by the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong. It is unlikely that the Chinese Government in Beijing will back down, but the protesters also stand firm on the ground, demanding Leung Chun Ying, the current chief executive of Hong Kong to step down. In any case, I hope peace and calm will prevail, and pray that there will be no violence and bloodshed.

Jimmy Carter is a Nobel Peace Prize winner. Here are his words: " My position has always been, along with many people, that any differences be resolved in a non violent way ". Peace !!!

July the First

Today is Canada Day, also the 17th anniversary of Britain's hand-over of Hong Kong back to Chinese rule. There has been some political turmoil in Hong Kong, where the Hongkongers demand their UK-China promised autonomy and democracy, while the Chinese Government strongly asserts its authority and sovereignty over the previous British colony. I hope the problems will be resolved peacefully. No violence on either side please !!!

Thou Shall Not Kill

Thou shall not kill. Killing a human being including the killers is wrong. Only crazy people,religious people,and people blinded by money and power believe in violence,war,killing,retaliation,torture and punishment, not truly spiritual people of love and peace. Doing something wrong,like killing, to correct a mistake, like trying to stop killing,is not a spiritual solution. It is a quick-fixed illusion.It creates a never-ending negative karma.

The only time that you can kill is for self-defence, but even that, your motive is for self-defence, not to diliberately and unnecessarily kill the killer to make him die.War is a crime.Death penalty is not a solution.Stop all wars and death penalty, if humanity wish to become truly advanced and civilized.

G-20 in Toronto

Please don't be misled by the images you saw on TV about G-20 in Toronto. Canada is not perfect, but it is a peaceful country with law and order. The majority are law-abiding citizens.Only some protesters are trouble makers with criminal intent. Some are hard-core riot junkies. They just enjoy the action like playing a violent video game.Unfortunately, it is not a video game. Violence in real life could lead to death.

More shootings, violence and horror

Shootings could happen anywhere, not only in a church, but when it happened in a church, it made one think. How could there be an all-loving, all-knowing and all-powerful god really ? Yes, you should think about this question, too, if you are a genuine truth seeker.

I am not against any religion, as long as the believers are peaceful and loving, and not becoming deluded and fanatic. For those closet atheists, please have courage and come out. There is nothing to be ashamed of, if you don't believe in the existence of a supernatural god. If you live in a free country, there is no excuse that you must stay inside the religious box and be afraid of being ostracized.

When I said "I feel sorry for the Christians", I didn't mean to be disrespectful. I am an ex-Christian. I understand the Christian faith very well. What I mean was this: I feel sorry for those closet atheists who continue to stay in the Christian box where they no longer belong. Come out of it. Have courage. Set yourself free ! You can still keep and practice all those good teachings of Jesus about love and forgiveness, without having to stay in the Christian box. You'll find less hypocrisy, and more freedom and honesty, outside the box. In the end, the decision or choice is yours. I am just expressing my views and giving you some suggestions.

Yes, there are more shootings, from Vancouver Canada to Alabama U.S.A. Next time if you happen to be in a shooting scene, don't presume some people are making a movie. It could be real !!! Protect yourself. Duck. Run. Leave the dangerous zone. Enter a safe place.

The news is bad. They found 5 human heads in some chests in Mexico. No, it is not a horror movie. It is real. Ha, violent and horror movies are so plenty in real life !!!

But not all is bad. Amidst the world financial crisis, Wall Street stocks went up :))) We are living in interesting time: hard time for most, and easy time for some. Happy time at any time for a few spiritual and enlightened people :)))
