Moving Forward

Moving Forward - these 2 words are sort of my pet peeve. I felt a little annoyed when I heard people say it. To be fair, there is really nothing wrong with the expression itself. Even I sometimes use it, so what is my complaint? __________________________________________________ My complaint is not that we must never use this expression. It is about politicians who say it too often. They will use this expression to avoid a question. In other words, they will give you an answer which is not an answer. Ask them a question, like what are they going to do with certain problem, and they will reply by saying something like ‘we’ll move forward’ __________________________________________________ Moving forward? Good, but where are you going? When will you move? Immediately or much later? What are you going to do to solve the problem? How are you going to do it? __________________________________________________ Sorry about my complaint. Let’s move forward!

Great Again

October 1st is the national day of the People's Republic of China. While Donald Trump has been saying that he'll make America great again, Xi Jinping has been working hard to make China great again. Who do you think will succeed? Peace !

Korean Peninsula

It is very dangerous to play chicken. Threat is not a good tool for peace. The US insists North Korea to stop its nuclear missile development as a precondition for peaceful dialogue. North Korea wants the US to stop its hostile policy and military exercise with Japan and South Korea near its border. China tried to arbitrate and bring peace, suggesting that both Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump should stop all threatening language and action, but it was rejected by both Kim and Trump. Who is crazy, Kim or Trump, what do you think? Threat would only elevate the danger and provoke a military conflict, even a break out of war and chaos in the Korean Peninsula. We must think, talk and act Peace.

CNN is Anti- Trump

A friend from Hong Kong was on holiday and said he enjoyed watching CNN news about Donald Trump in his hotel room. This friend in Asia has a very negative view about President Trump. I gave him my thoughts and comments about T.V. News in the U.S.: .......................................................................................................................... CNN is pro Democrats. Fox News is pro Republicans. American news media have long lost their neutrality or balanced news reporting. They have become non-stop political debate and propaganda. CNN is anti-Trump before, during and after the election. Oh America !!!

Doctor Dao and the United Airlines

A friend in Facebook shared an article written by Andrew Lam, an author and editor of the New American Media in San Francisco. It was published by the Huffington Post on April 11, 2017 regarding David Dao, the Asian American doctor who was forcefully dragged from a United Airlines flight departing Chicago for Louisville, Kentucky. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are a few points that I agree with Andrew Lam in what he said in this article: had Dao been a blonde white woman, such assault and battery would not have happened. It was not a case of overbooking; every passenger had a seat. Rather Dao was forced to give up his paid seat to make room for United employees. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My thoughts and comments: Forcing a customer to give up his paid seat for the airline's own staff members was highly unfair even if it was not illegal. In any case, violence is wrong. Such incident reflects a few perceived American problems beyond the United Airlines in a broader sense: racism against non-white minorities, police brutality, an aggressive culture or violent value that 'might is right' and force is the answer to solving problems. Uncle Sam likes to fight and kill. What can we do? So bad So sad !!!
