What is Success in Life?

A friend posted 11 rules, or life lessons, according to Bill Gates in Facebook.

My thoughts and comments:

What Bill Gates said is generally true but not absolutely true. Rule #11 is sort of funny. It says if you born poor, it's not your mistake. But if you die poor, it is your mistake.  

Have you heard of this Chinese saying? What a person's life is like, or whether it will be successful or not, depends on these 5 determining factors: birth, luck, feng shui, karma (charitable work or helping others) and education.

Indeed life is not fair. Only death is fair (everybody dies). If you were born to poor parents in a poor and backward country, you would face much greater challenge in life. If you were born to rich parents in an advanced country, you would gain much advantage to succeed in life. Still, Bill Gates' advice or life lessons are good references to think about.

My philosophy is that whatever card life gave you at the beginning, you just have to play the game the best you can. Got an Ace? Good for you. Got a 5 only? You still have to play the game and never give up.

What is success in life? There are so many different definitions. To most people, it means money, power and fame. To some spiritual people, it simply means health and happiness. To me, success in life is not about money and material possessions. Peace !

American War And Peace

There are many dark forces in this world, including the war hawks and neo-cons in America. These warmongers want war, not peace. The U.S. Military Industrial Complex needs to constantly create enemies and conflicts, in order to keep the hugely profitable war business going.

So many conflicts and wars, even terrorists, can be traced back to the root cause of U.S. interventionism. It is a horrific cycle of cause and effect. You may call it negative karma or bad blowback. But hell the warmongers just don't care. It is great for U.S.world dominance and the American war business. Gerald Celente, a renowned American financial commentator and trend forecaster said, "The business of America is war. The business of China is business."

Don't envy the job of the U.S. president. As the U.S. president, you may want peace, but there are powerful dark forces in America which keep pushing you to go to war,  to make troubles and invade other countries, to divide and conquer and drop some bombs, to orchestrate foreign regime changes, and to fight the terrorists whom Uncle Sam created in the first place. In short, it doesn't matter who fight whom, as long as there are war-game players in action, to keep the hugely profitable American war business going!

Sadly, there are people in this world who actually want war, not peace. These dark forces are internal and external, and the U.S. president must deal with them both.  

Obama has re-established diplomatic relations with Cuba, and has succeeded in signing a nuclear peace deal with Iran. There are at least a few more things that he should do, in order to earn his Nobel Peace Prize received in advance:

Close the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp as promised, and better still, return the lands to Cuba.  

Stop sending drones to kill people, including American citizens who are presumed but not proven terrorists, which will otherwise cause the continued death of more civilians and innocent people.

Reform the racist and corrupted judicial, police, and prison systems in America.

Stop unlimited spying activities on American citizens, your own countrymen, and your allies.

Reduce or take the big money out of American politics. Current lobbying and unlimited donations allowed is a ' buy out the politicians ' program. It is nothing but legalized corruption.

Millionaire Panhandler

In the news, there is a millionaire beggar in Beijing, China. Believe it or not, he earned  enough money from his work and bought two expensive apartments there.

The millionaire panhandler pretended to be a crippled man, and worked near the busy subway stations. After he had been arrested by local police who accused him of violating public order, he confessed that he monopolized his lucrative business by threatening and beating other beggars out of his controlled territory.The police advised passengers not to give money to beggars along the city's highly connected underground lines.

My blog is titled Fast Edi Thoughts and Comments. I am supposed to share my thoughts and comments with you, but while I can't help laughing, I just don't quite know what to say about this story other than the following:

This kind of swindling happened before, not only in China, but also in other places, including the United States and Hong Kong.

In the U.S. (I forgot which city. It was probably New York or Los Angeles), there was a university graduate, a psychology major, who dressed up in shabby clothes each day and worked near the busy subway stations as a panhandler. Then in the evening, he changed to wearing nice clothes and hanged out in the nightclubs to drink, dance and have fun.

When I was a child and teen living in Hong Kong, I remember there was a beggar sitting near the Star Ferry terminal almost every day. He was a blind man (?) always wearing dark glasses and playing harmonica, while people kept dropping coins to his pan. I heard from my friends that he was a rich man who owned expensive real estate and had two wives.

I hope the above stories will not harden your heart, and make you completely stop giving money to the poor and homeless. Yes, it is possible that some panhandlers may be swindlers, or use your money to buy drugs or alcohol, instead of food and necessities, but that is not your negative karma. Your karma is still good and positive, because your motive is to give and help someone. Certainly in each case if you are suspicious, you can decide not to give.  

How do you become a millionaire? Stop buying lottery tickets. Become a panhandler. Just kidding !!! 

Positive Energy

Thank you for your like-minded understanding. We need to spread positive energy to the world. Even a small loving and peaceful thought or action counts.

Karma

You reap what you sow. Call it karma or whatever, I believe in cause and effect.

Thou Shall Not Kill

Thou shall not kill. Killing a human being including the killers is wrong. Only crazy people,religious people,and people blinded by money and power believe in violence,war,killing,retaliation,torture and punishment, not truly spiritual people of love and peace. Doing something wrong,like killing, to correct a mistake, like trying to stop killing,is not a spiritual solution. It is a quick-fixed illusion.It creates a never-ending negative karma.

The only time that you can kill is for self-defence, but even that, your motive is for self-defence, not to diliberately and unnecessarily kill the killer to make him die.War is a crime.Death penalty is not a solution.Stop all wars and death penalty, if humanity wish to become truly advanced and civilized.
